Definition of Obesity

Obesity is a medical condition characterized by excessive body fat accumulation that poses a risk to health. It is commonly measured using Body Mass Index (BMI), where a BMI of 30 and above indicates obesity.

Prevalence of Obesity in Malaysia Malaysia is one of the country has the highest rate of overweight and obesity in Southeast Asia. Almost 1 in 2 adults in Malaysia are either overweight or obese, leading to a higher risk of diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and other non-communicable diseases

(NCDs).

To collaborate with schools, healthcare providers, NGOs, and government agencies.

To empower individuals and families with practical solutions for long-term health.

Objectives

  1. Enhance public knowledge on the causes, effects, and prevention of obesity through the dissemination of updated information via health programs and activities.
  2. Organize health activities and sales of electronic health monitoring devices with participation fees or reasonable prices to raise organizational funds.
  3. Promote healthy lifestyle practices among members and the public to avoid unhealthy habits that lead to health problems.
  4. Collaborate with private or government agencies, local authorities, state, and federal governments in efforts to reduce obesity rates in Miri and Sarawak.

Types of Membership

  • Ordinary Member: RM30 annually
  • Life Member: RM100 (one-time payment)
  • Corporate Member: RM500 annually
  • Allied Member (for those not meeting organizational criteria): RM30 annually
  • Youth Member: RM10 annually

Membership Criteria:

  • Must be Malaysian
  • Age 18 years and above
  • Open to all races, religions, and genders
